The Best of Swan Valley for Beer Lovers

Swan Valley for beer lovers

You’re probably among those who picture Swan Valley as exclusively for wine enthusiasts. The vast vineyards and world-class wineries are among the reasons why people come and visit.

The region, however, offers so much more. If you feel like relaxing and drinking a few (or more) beers at world-class breweries, Swan Valley won’t disappoint.

Enjoy classic German beers, unique craft beers you cannot get anywhere else, and much more. In this blog post, we list the top selection of breweries in the region that will surely have your taste buds asking for more.

Let’s start.

Swan Valley Brewery

This brewery is easy to remember. After all, the region is in the name. The focus of this brewery is on producing traditional English and Irish ales. But what makes Swan Valley Brewery unique is that it does not use any chemicals, preservatives, and artificial flavours in all the beers.

The venue itself provides seating in both the indoor and outdoor spaces. If you brought your kids along, there are grassy areas where they can play. Adults even use those spots to exercise. You can visit the brewery on most days of the week for breakfast and afternoon food and drink. Over the weekend, the place is quite busy, especially at night. It’s where many visitors dine while enjoying some of the signature beer recipes, such as Bucks Bitter, which is a popular choice of Australian beer lovers.

Mash Brewing

Mash Brewing is located in Henley Brook within the Swan Valley region. It opened in 2006 and has become one of the most recognised craft breweries in the area. Today, Mash Brewing has a 12-hectolitre brewhouse. It’s one of the best breweries to visit, especially if you’re curious about what takes place during production through the open working area.

Be sure to try Red Cat IPA, which is one of the seasonal offerings. Gose-Ade is also popular amongst patrons because of its unique grape taste blended with the usual yeast, water, hops, and malt. The refreshing taste is a must-try especially if you are on your Perth brewery tour on a hot sunny day.

Duckstein German Brewery

The core four beers in this brewery are Pilsner, Dunkel, Hefeweiss, and Altbier. Those names assure you that Duckstein German Brewery is the real deal. The brewery opened its doors some 20 years ago. Since then, Duckstein has been known for producing high-quality beers whose origins can be traced from their German roots.

Aside from the beers, the venue is perfect if you are enjoying Swan Valley with a large group. There are wooden park tables readily waiting. That way, you can sip your favourite beers and eat great food while having enough space for everyone. The best time to visit Duckstein German Brewery is in October because of the Oktoberfest held here.

The Henley Brook

Technically, Henley Brook is not truly a place of producing Perth beer like the other breweries mentioned in this list. However, it is one of the best sites to go to if you are searching for delicious craft beers. These beverages are already in cans and bottles but they all come from the top breweries in Australia.

Another reason to visit is the guest beer taps that change every now and then. So, each time you come to this place, you will get a taste of new varieties from different breweries. If you have already visited plenty of Swan Valley breweries, you can settle here at the Henley Brook. Don’t forget to order a few pilsners and lagers, which will help take the edge off.

Elmar’s in the Valley

Elmar’s in the Valley is situated right in the heart of Swan Valley. Each beer has been created in this brewery, which is just 40 minutes from the Perth CBD. Elmar’s takes pride in the fact that all beers are brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. According to this law, barley, hops, and water should be the only ingredients used in brewing beer.

Elmar’s is not just known for its beers, but also for its restaurant. Apart from that, the company owns the biggest glass microbrewery in the south. Popular products include glass kettles and other vessels, which you can easily see through the viewing platform right across the bar area.

Feral Brewing Company

This Perth brewery is a bit more to the north than other breweries mentioned. Therefore, it makes sense that you add Feral Brewing Company as a part of your day trip around the city. It is where many people on tours go when they want only one stop for lunch and some beer.

Feral produces some of the best craft beers in the area. Australians love these beers, which is why the company is one of the biggest sources at beer venues across Perth. But of course, you cannot beat the experience of drinking straight from the source. We recommend you to visit when the TUSK beer is available, which is released twice a year only.
